Nonsurgical Treatment Options for Neck Pain

Suffering from neck pain can be debilitating and an inconvenience. The neck is one of the most used and important parts of the body. Neck pain can be caused by many different conditions, but if there is a serious reason causing neck pain, such as a major injury, a doctor may recommend surgery.

Surgery can be very invasive, and the risk of infection and complications is high. Regenerative medicine treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma therapy and cell therapy, are safe and effective alternatives to high-risk surgical procedures or oral pain medications.

Platelet Rich Plasma Injections Palm HarborMost neck issues do not require surgery to alleviate pain and respond very well to nonsurgical treatment options no matter what the cause, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Whiplash
  • Sprains
  • Bad posture
  • Muscle strain

Regenerative medicine treatment options include: platelet-rich plasma Injections and cell therapy.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma injections utilize the innate healing power of the body to treat neck pain at the source. This therapy uses the platelets found in your blood to encourage pain relief.

To begin, your doctor will draw a sample of your blood, then process this sample in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, yielding a higher volume to create a rich, golden solution full of healing qualities. This solution is then injected into the area of the neck in need of repair.

Using platelet-rich plasma for neck pain treatment comes with incredible benefits, including:

  • It contains a high concentration of healing components, proteins, and growth factors
  • It is nonsurgical and noninvasive
  • It is a very quick process with no downtime after treatment
  • The risk of side effects or complications are minimal to none, as it is developed from your own blood

Cell therapy

The body is complex and performs many different functions thanks to the hundreds of different specific cells that make up parts of the body, like the organs, muscles, and bones. These cells work by performing specific actions in the body. We can lose some of these cells if they become injured or damaged. Cell therapy works to replace the lost cells with new, healthy cells.

The cells our doctors prefer for cell therapy treatments are mesenchymal cells. These cells are taken from a gelatinous substance found in the umbilical cord tissue of cesarean born babies called Wharton’s jelly. With the carefully prescreened mother’s consent, Wharton’s jelly is collected at the time of birth. This process does not cause any discomfort to the baby or the mother. The mesenchymal cells found in Wharton’s jelly contain many growth factors, cytokines, and proteins which make it ideal for cell regeneration and healing therapies. Also, they are brand new, and too young to have an immune system, so there is little to no chance of rejection.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is another effective method of relief for debilitating neck pain. If you have experienced a neck injury, a chiropractor can assess the damage and utilize techniques, tools, and adjustments in order to bring the body back into alignment. A simple chiropractic adjustment could be all that’s needed for relief.
